About Us

For over ten years I sold auto loans. Thousands of them. And here’s something I don’t think people outside the industry realize: most customers didn’t actually understand what they were signing.

They knew their EMI amount. They knew the down payment. That was usually it. Most of them had no idea how their CIBIL score worked, or that a small difference in that score could end up costing them lakhs over the life of the loan. They didn’t know the difference between reducing balance interest and flat rate interest, even though it changes what you actually pay. A lot of them didn’t even know the processing fee could be negotiated. I’ve had customers come back two or three years into a loan still confused about why their outstanding balance hadn’t moved much.

None of this happened because anyone was trying to cheat them. It’s just how the system works. When you’re selling, targets take priority, and explaining the fine print in detail isn’t really part of the job. But I was the one sitting across the table, and watching people walk out not fully understanding what they’d just committed to always stayed with me. Closing the deal felt fine in the moment. That part never did.

That’s really why FinSikho exists. The name means learn finance, and that’s exactly the idea. Before you borrow, understand what you’re borrowing. Not from a brochure the bank hands you, and not from an agent whose job is to get you to sign quickly. From someone who spent a decade on the other side of that desk and has seen exactly where people get stuck, whether it’s a business loan, an education loan, a home loan, or a personal loan.

I’m not writing as an institution telling you what’s good for you. I want this to read the way I’d explain it to a friend or a family member sitting in front of me, in terms that actually apply here in India. CIBIL, EMI structures, RBI rules, schemes like Mudra Yojana, the things that come up again and again in real loan conversations.

I’m also in the middle of my own shift right now, moving out of loan sales and into digital marketing and content. FinSikho is where that shift is happening. I’m building it the way I wish someone had built it for the customers I used to work with. Direct, no unnecessary jargon, and honest about the parts that are genuinely confusing or difficult.

The years I spent in sales aren’t something I’m walking away from. They’re the reason this site exists in the first place. Everything I write here comes from actually watching what goes wrong when people borrow money without fully understanding it, not from reading about it somewhere.

You don’t need to become a finance expert. You just need to know enough that nobody can take advantage of you. That’s what I’m trying to give people here.

Learn before you borrow.
